Man in Custody After Police Pursuit and Crash Causing Several Injuries

July 12, 2012 - According to reports, several people were injured in a collision caused by a driver being pursued by police in Inglewood. According to LAPD authorities a high speed pursuit ended in a crash, causing a pickup truck to roll over.

The Los Angeles Police Department officials said pursuit of the vehicle identified as a suspected stolen Jaguar began in the westbound lanes of the 105 Freeway in Los Angeles.
LAPD officials said that the driver got off the freeway at Crenshaw Boulevard, and was speeding north of Imperial Highway when it rear ended a white pickup truck.

The impact of the collision caused the pickup truck to spin and then roll over.
The Jaguar crossed into opposite lanes of traffic, where it crashed head-on into a minivan. Police removed the driver of the Jaguar from the vehicle and arrested him at the scene.

Two people involved in the collisions were injured, LAPD officials said. A 48 year old man suffered chest pain and 38 year old suffered lacerations to the arm and head. The driver of the pickup truck was able to get out of the vehicle, and it is unclear if he was one of the injured victims.

Driver Suspected of DUI in 60 Freeway Crash that Killed Teen Girl and Injured Two People


June 3, 2012 - According to reports a driver involved in a deadly 60 Freeway crash is suspected of driving under the influence.

According to the California Highway Patrol the accident occurred at approximately 12:40 a.m. on the 60 Freeway in the vicinity of the Seventh Avenue exit, in Hacienda Heights.

California Highway Patrol officials said that a 41 year old woman and a 13 year old girl were standing next to their car and a 10 year old boy was sitting in the backseat of the car that was on the right shoulder of the Freeway. A Honda Civic veered into the woman and teen girl.

The 13 year old girl was killed and the 10 year old boy suffered moderate injuries in the crash.
The driver of the Honda Civic that is suspected of driving under the influence has been identified as

Tina Silva, who was arrested and is being held without bail, CHP officials said.
CHP officials said that Silva is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Driver in Death of Mother and Two Daughters Suspected of DUI

May 29, 2012 - According to reports a mother and two daughters that died Monday morning after a Willowbrook crash, police now say driver allegedly driving under the influence. According to police the accident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. in the vicinity of the intersection at Mona Boulevard and East 119th Street in Willowbrook. Police said the accident involved a white Cadillac and a Chevrolet Tahoe, which was making a left turn. The Cadillac broadsided the Tahoe, causing the Tahoe to rollover on its side, police said. According to the California Highway Patrol the driver of the Cadillac has been identified as Jason Steward age 32 of Hawthorne. CHP officials said that Steward attempted to run from the scene of the crash, but was quickly detained. Steward was placed under arrest on suspicion of DUI, hit and run and gross vehicular manslaughter. The mother that died was traveling home from a friend’s house, after spending the night according to family, because she felt she had too much to drink in order to drive. According to paramedics Lynzne Jane Martinez age 30 died at an area hospital from her injuries. Two of Martinez children, Brianna Martinez age 7 and Loryana Martinez age 3 were thrown from the vehicle during the crash. Brianna Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and Loryana was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Lynwood where she died. Three other people in the Tahoe, a 65 year old man and a 24 year old man suffered minor to moderate injuries and were transported to area hospitals. Martinez 1 year old son suffered minor to moderate injuries in the crash and was transported to an area hospital. Driver Arrested for Suspicion of DUI After Crashing into a House

May 25, 2012 - According to reports a driver was arrested after crashing into a house on suspicion of driving under the influence. According to Anaheim Police Sgt. Bob Dunn the accident occurred at approximately midnight in the 800 block of South Magnolia Avenue in the vicinity of Greenleaf Avenue in Anaheim. Sgt. Dunn said police believe the driver of a truck was traveling southbound on Magnolia Avenue and veered into the northbound lanes. The truck then jumped the curb and crashed through a fence, before hitting the front corner of the house. The house was occupied by an 80 year old man and his cat at the time the truck slammed into the house. Officer John Roman said the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at the scene of the crash, after failing a field sobriety test. The driver was booked at the Anaheim Police Department, Roman said. No one in the home was injured, Sgt. Dunn said.

Amanda Bynes Actress Hits Police Car and Gets Arrested for DUI

April 6, 2012 - According to reports actress Amanda Bynes was arrested Friday for suspicion of driving under the influence after hitting a police car.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials the accident occurred at approximately 3:00 a.m. at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Robertson Boulevard in West Hollywood.

The actress struck a Los Angeles County deputy’s marked black and white police car, which was waiting to make a turn onto Santa Monica Boulevard, officials said. Bynes driving a black BMW struck the marked police car, while attempting to pass on the right. The actress struck the rear quarter of the police car, officials said.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials, no one was injured in the collision. Both vehicles were damaged in the crash. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Bynes was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and booked into the West Hollywood Sheriff’s station and was later released on $5,000 bail Friday morning.

Bynes reportedly was cited with a cell phone ticket; she later went to the police station and signed the ticket.

Teacher Removed From Classroom on Suspicion of Inappropriate Behavior

March 29, 2012 - According to reports a teacher was removed from a classroom for suspicion of inappropriate behavior in Canoga Park.

According to officials a teacher has been removed from the classroom at the John Sutter Middle School in Canoga Park. Authorities said that the LAUSD teacher was removed from the classroom after another teacher reportedly told the district that he suspected there were acts of child abuse.

According to attorney Brian Claypool the teacher overheard kids talking about the other teacher and asked them what they were talking about. The students told the teacher that they were afraid and felt uncomfortable.

The LAUSD officials said that parents were made aware on Thursday of the allegations and they issued a public statement. In the statement they said that a teacher was removed from a classroom and will not release his name, grade level or the cause of the allegations.

LAUSD public information officer said that the teacher in question is being housed in a non-teaching office.

The LAUSD said that they plan to adopt a new policy that will notify parents within 72 hours when an employee is removed for allegations of sexual misconduct against a student, unless otherwise directed by law enforcement.

La Habra Suspected DUI Crash Knocks Out Power

March 28, 2012 - According to reports a crash knocked out power in La Habra and the driver is suspected of driving under the influence.

According to La Habra Police Department Sgt. Jeff Baylos the accident occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m. in the vicinity of Lambert Road and Cypress Street. La Habra police officers responding to the scene found a pickup truck that had struck a utility pole, knocking out power to the area.

Sgt. Baylos said that the driver of the pickup truck, identified as De Los Ryes age 21 of Whittier was not injured in the crash. Reyes was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence, Sgt. Baylos said.

According to Edison spokeswoman, Mashi Nyssen 3,000 customers in Southern California that were affected by the power outage had power restored by approximately 3:00 a.m.
Nyssen said that at approximately 11:30 a.m. there were only three customers that remained without power and it was expected to be restored by Wednesday night.

Sgt. Baylos said that Lambert Street remained closed till approximately midnight, between Harbor Boulevard and Euclid Street, while utility crews worked to restore power. Nyssen said that areas of the road that are still closed could reopen Wednesday afternoon.
